Blind Squirrel Realty is the vision of Bob Jennings, a realtor in Central Florida for over 25 years. Mr Jennings presented us with a unique challenge. His website was going to be the first real estate site we had ever created. We worked with the team at Blind Squirrel Realty, the Florida Association of Realtors, and our database developers to create a truly custom site to meet Mr Jennings specific needs.
Our plan for Blind Squirrel Realty started with Mr Jennings unique concept for a challenging Central Florida market. He requested that his site visitors only be able to see the homes in Central Florida that are foreclosed, are in the process of being foreclosed, or are short sales. This allows Blind Squirrel Realty's customers to purchase the home they find in a much faster period than traditional home listings.
We started with the look and feel of the site, which was going to be the most fun. Bob wanted the site to be laid back and comedic. He wanted visitors to feel relaxed and comfortable while looking through his homes. He also wanted a gimmick that would be memorable. We used a combination of flash animation and traditional artwork to make this possible. The homepage animation was the starting point. Once Bob approved it, we used that as the theme for the rest of the site.
Once the overall look of the site was complete, we needed to move on to the back end of the site. Creation of the layout code, the database, and the CSS were the biggest tasks. We used as much CSS as possible, to make the site more friendly to Google and other search engines. We also made sure that images and flash animations were kept as small as possible to improve page loading times. This made the page as "Google Friendly" as possible, while maintaining all the functionality that we needed.
Lastly, Bob needed to have himself and his staff brought up to speed on how to use this new site and it's suite of tools. We started with the basics of Google, and how the search engine could be used for advertising, for site monitoring, and more. We then covered the custom tools that the database came with to track customers who visit the site. We also setup the office with email accounts to make all official emails come from BlindSquirrelRealty.com
